The History of Roseview
Roseview shelties are located two miles north of the pretty and quaint city of Cedarburg. Our home is nestled between a quiet country road and a scenic meandering creek.
Dick had always wanted a sheltie and when Mary wanted a dog, Gypsy entered our lives. That was in 1970 and we have never been without a sheltie since. Children followed and the three kids grew up experiencing all the love and joy a sheltie can give. Of course, one sheltie wasn't enough so Heidi entered our lives. Boy could she play soccer with the kids! As the kids grew up, our shelties accompanied us on numerous camping trips. They were well traveled including several trips to the Black Hills of South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park.
As fate would have it, the kids grew up and with more time on our hands; we looked for more activities and ways to spend time together with our dogs. Hence, we became interested in dog shows and conformation. Little did we realize how much there was to learn! An educational process began that will continue as long as we are in the sport of dogs and breeding. Rocky entered our lives as our first show dog and we were hooked.
We are proud of our many accomplishments in the breed ring but we are also very proud of puppies that we have sold that are competing in obedience, agility, rally, herding and just being loved by their owners. In the fall of 2016 we decided to train a couple of our dogs in agility. We haven't competed with them but are looking forward to our first agility trial.
Many weekends out of the year find us at dog shows competing in the conformation ring at AKC events. We are also active members of the Green Bay Shetland Sheepdog Club. We both have held offices and been on the board of this club. We are also former members of The Greater Milwaukee Shetland Sheepdog Club where we had held different officer positions. Dick is presently the webmaster of the Green Bay Club. Not only are the dogs our love but they are our passion!
